FACE THE EURO

Money is impersonal; it can be used for any purpose. The material money is made of is neutral. Its value depends on the story behind it. The euro is a symbol of European unity – ironically it has become a symbol of discord. Regardless of the economic and political situation, every individual can and will influence the society and its development.

The project deals with the relationship between man and money. It started in 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany and travels throughout the countries of the Eurozone. It is an interaction between the participants and the artists — everybody has the opportunity to get portrayed and to add his or her own individualized five euro banknote to the installation that reflects unity and diversity at the same time.
